Rise early and witness the sunrise slowly unveiling the gently sloping shapes and many-colored hues of Uluru (Ayers Rock). A guide will then take you on a tour of the base, exploring the many caves and rock paintings along the way. A visit to the Uluru Cultural Centre provides both cultural insights and a chance to purchase original artworks.
This tour departs 75 minutes prior to sunrise. Enter the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and enjoy champagne as you witness the show of color as the first rays of the sun strike Uluru (Ayers Rock). With the sun climbing in the morning sky, join a guided walk to Mutitjulu waterhole, viewing ancient cave paintings and learning about the Aboriginal legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming).
Continue along the Mala Walk to learn the story of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people who once lived at Uluru. See painted caves and learn of the region's geology and flora. As you tour the base of Uluru, visit Kantju Gorge, a sacred waterhole and old hunting ground. Visit the Cultural Centre, dedicated to interpreting Anangu culture and law, as well as helping visitors learn about the cultural value of the region. There is also time to visit Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative where you can see Aboriginal artists at work and purchase artifacts.
