Spend three days exploring Murchison Falls National Park and discover the "other" Falls of Africa. Wildlife is plentiful, crowds are small and the scenery spectacular.
The mighty Nile River slows as it reaches the North West of Uganda and hits a 24 foot (7 meters) wide gap. Here the water explodes in a powerful demonstration of mother nature's fury known as the "Boiling Pot". The water then cascades down a 120 foot (36 meter) drop in a thunderous finale. Welcome to Murchison Falls!
Unlike its famous sister - Victoria Falls, it is not the size of Murchison Falls which draws visitors from around the world, rather the awesome power and fury of the water clashing with land.
Aside from the Falls themselves, there is much more to Murchison Falls National Park than just water. The park is a prime wildlife viewing location in Uganda, and not surprisingly the Nile Crocodile features high on the most impressive list. In this region they grow up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) and are often seen sunbathing on rocks in the river.
Also a common sight in the park are buffalo, giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck and a healthy population of elephants.
