The best way to get to know a city when you first arrive is to jump on a city sightseeing tour. You will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jeronimos Monastery, see the world's largest opulent coaches at the Coach Museum and stop at Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries.
A half day to discover Lisbon.
Drive down Liberty Avenue to Rossio, the very heart of the city. Alfama, the oldest and most picturesque quarter where you will stop for a wine tasting in a handicraft store.
Continue with a drive along the riverside to admire Black Horse Square, before crossing the bridge over the Tagus. You will then have stops at Belem Tower and at Monument to the Discoveries, possibly Lisbon's most famous sight.
Next a visit to Jeronimos Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage site), and to the Coach Museum, where you can find the world's largest collection opulent coaches built for the aristocracy, dating back to the 17th century. Both closed on Mondays, replaced by Ajuda Palace or "Fundacao Medeiros e Almeida".
