Depart Brisbane for Fraser Island and pass the Glasshouse Mountains and the old mining town of Gympie enroute. On arrival at Rainbow Beach, board your 4WD vehicle to transfer onto Fraser Island. Enjoy a stop at Eurong Resort for lunch (at own expense) before traveling onto 75 mile beach.
Your guide today will point out many fascinating aspects of this unique region and explain the rich aboriginal history and culture. You may see the wild dingoes that have made this island wilderness their home. Spend some time on the world's most beautiful highway, Seventy Five Mile Beach and experience the awesome splendor of an uninterrupted beachfront. Stroll along the palm and fern studded banks of Wanggoolba Creek, the most outstanding rainforest area on Fraser Island. Visit the incredible freshwater lake Mckenzie or Birrabeen and take a dip in the crystal clear waters. You will also visit Central Station Museum and Eurong Resort. Return to the southern end of the island via the inland road, past evidence of the old sand mines. This controversial industry ceased as Fraser Island became recognized for its World Heritage importance.
Catch the ferry back to the mainland and reboard your coach for a relaxing drive back to Brisbane, arriving home tired and exhilarated. A stop for dinner (at your own expense) will be made on the return journey. The traveling time between Brisbane and Rainbow Beach is 3 1/2 hours. The return time to Brisbane may vary with tidal conditions.
